Disney showcased their official-trailer for their all-new series Percy Jackson and the Olympians at this year’s D23 event, among other things.
The series won’t be out for quite a long period of time, however the trailer does showcase a taste for what fans of the franchise are in for in the new show, with familiar faces showing up on screen once again. The television series is based off of Rick Riordan’s book series and focuses on the main protagonist, Percy Jackson.

The Lightning thief is the first book in the series, and it serves as an introduction to 12 year-old Percy Jackson, who’s life gets flipped upside down when his teacher transforms into a murderous monster. He then learns the truth about his existence from his mother: that he is a demigod. From there the rest of the series is formulated, having Percy undergo different kinds of adventures as a mythical being.
The new series by Disney is something fans have been awaiting for a very long time, after Riordan announced the show over two years ago. Disney confirmed the Disney+ series’ development at the beginning of the year, and its release is set for some point in 2024.
Back in 2010 a movie version of the show was adapted, being led by lead actor Logan Lerman. Although the movie’s fundamental story was good, it being the original series, it didn’t hit well with audiences and ultimatley was forgotten after its sequel project. Unlike 2010 however, this new show will have Riordan involved in its production, making audiences more hopeful than not.
