MultiVersus review

I’ve always been a pretty big fan of brawl games. I remember being a young kid, opening up my mom’s laptop just to boot up Nickelodeon’s brawl game online. MultiVersus does just that: Bring out the kid in me to enjoy a bit of brawling as my favorite film characters. Not many companies can say that they have the roster that Warner Bros. does, and they definitely put it to good use in MultiVersus.

Resembling Smash Bros. by Nintendo, MultiVersus launched its open beta just recently, so anyone can go and download the title for free to enjoy. I played MultiVersus on my Windows PC, opting to download through Steam. It’s also available on Epic Games, for those of you who prefer that launcher.

Console players can also enjoy the fun of MultiVersus, with the title being available on Xbox and PlayStation as well.

Although the title is not fully finished yet, it’s still plenty of fun already. The roster of characters includes Scooby Doo favorites, Batman, Wonder Woman, and more. If you haven’t gotten a chance to try it out yet, you should definitely go for it. You can spar against other players or bots, and you can even join in on a team brawl battle.

The team battles provide an interesting and gameplay-rich co-op experience. Each character’s abilities can really help support an entire team. Wonder Woman’s lasso, Shaggy’s sandwich throwing, and so many other special powers can really make a team strategy shine.

With so many characters to choose from and so many opportunities to learn the best playstyle and moves, there is a lot to unpack in MultiVersus. I should note that the game is free-to-play, meaning that characters and other cosmetic items need to be purchased. However, you can earn in-game coins by playing matches, so you can purchase the characters in the roster without needing to place real money in the game. Of course, you can if you really just want to unlock them quickly, but the mechanics aren’t hard to learn and playing matches is straight-forward as well.

So, if you’re looking for a new game to pass the time with, consider checking out MultiVersus! Plus, don’t forget to check out our other video game reviews!
