Moon Knight looks like it might be coming back for a second season. The highly successful Disney+ show received praise from audiences and critics. With season one ending on a cliffhanger, and still no understanding of how Moon Knight fits into the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe, it only makes sense for a second season to be in the works.
Executive Producer Mohamed Diab tweeted a TikTok of him with actor Oscar Isaac showing the two of them in Cairo. When asked if Moon Knight would get a second season, Oscar Isaac responds with: “Why else would we be in Cairo?”
Most were not expecting a season two of Moon Knight, especially since Oscar Isaac only signed a one-year contract. If he was brought back, he’d likely have to renew his contract with a higher pay due to the success seen from the first season. Although it wasn’t official that Isaac would not return, there were no previous indicators that he would be starring in the MCU more.
Additionally, despite its high reviews, the show was not hyped up much compared to other Disney+ MCU shows like WandaVision and Loki. Most new Disney Marvel projects seem to be focusing on characters that exist in the wider MCU films, but it is a possibility that Disney is planning on placing Moon Knight in there somewhere.
No official confirmation was given by Disney on if there will be a second season of Moon Knight.
Moon Knight follows the story of Marc Spector, a former mercenary suffering from dissociative identity disorder. His alter, Stephen Grant and him make up Moon Knight, as the two are drawn into a major conflict amongst the mythological Egyptian gods. The show starred May Calamawy as Layla El-Faouly (Scarlet Scarab) and Ethan Hawke as villain Arthur Harrow. It received a 91% audience score and is certainly one of Marvel’s most interesting projects. Not only did it tackle a mental health aspect, but it delivered adventure and excitement with each episode.
