Diablo IV modding banned

If you’re familiar with PC gaming, one of the most beloved parts about it is the fact that you can mod video games to your heart’s content. Games like Skyrim and Fallout are some of the best for this, but you can also mod other games. However, it seems like Activision Blizzard isn’t a huge fan of this practice and is warning players that modding Diablo IV could result in your account getting permanently banned.

Blizzard’s global community development director Adam Fletcher says that “any game-modifying software” is strictly prohibited and using it could end up in getting your account permanently banned.

In the same game forum post, Fletcher wrote, “we are committed to keeping the world of Sanctuary a safe and fair place for all players, and our Game Security team constantly monitors for cheats and unauthorized modifications.”

The post specifically names the TurboHUD4 mod which is customizable UI mod. Blizzard basically says that this kind of software puts accounts at a risk for “disciplinary action.” This could be something like getting banned, of course.

Diablo 4 as a game is not a single-player game. You can certainly run it all on your lonesome, but players using cheats could negatively impact other players. Had Diablo 4 been a single-player game only, I’m sure this would’ve been a little less strict and intense.

Unfortunately, if you were planning on modding Diablo 4, you probably shouldn’t.
