Maze Runner star Jacob Lofland has joined the upcoming sequel to Joker, Joker: Folie a Deux.
In a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Lofland, 26, currently has an unknown role in the film. However, he is believed to be playing a key supporting role as an inmate at Arkham Asylum and a friend of The Joker (Arthur Fleck).
Lofland played the role of Aris in Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials and Maze Runner: The Death Cure.
Joker 2: Folie a Deux will star Joaquin Phoenix as The Joker. Lady Gaga has also been cast in the sequel. It is currently reported that Lady Gaga will be playing Joker’s lover, Harley Quinn. Harry Potter star Brendan Gleeson has also been casted, but his role is currently known.
Currently, not much information is available about Joker 2, but it is believed that the film will have some sort of musical aspect to it.
Joker, which released back in 2019, was met with critical acclaim. It was praised for its portrayal of an alternate origin story to the famous Batman villain. However, the story of Joker does not take place within the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). Because of this, it’s not clear if there will be other DC characters in Joker 2.
Joker: Folie a Deux will see director Tom Phillips returning and will co-write the script with Scott Silver, who wrote the first film.
