Just the other day, Konami decided to renew its Suikoden trademark, with many speculating that there would be a new Suikoden game or possibly an announcement related to it. Now, Suikoden 1 and 2 are getting HD remasters for PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, and Switch in 2023.

The remasters of the highly beloved RPGs by Konami were announced at Tokyo Game Show 2022. The two games will be part of a single collection titled Suikoden I&II HD Remaster Gate Run and Dunan Unification Wars. It’s definitely a mouthful of a title.

The collection will include major improvements to the look of the game, including new character drawings and auto-battling, as well as other gameplay features.

IGN managed to get some footage of the game, which you can watch below:

Several changes are coming to the collection for Suikoden, including some graphical ones. Pixel sprites and environments will be more enhanced, and effects have been redesigned. Additionally, environmental and ambient sounds as well as battle sounds will be high quality and available in the remaster.

Suikoden originally released on the PlayStation, with its last iteration releasing back in 2006. Since then, the series has remained fairly dormant, but it’s still a cult classic amongst its fans.

This announcement is sure to get fans very excited!
