Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is getting its first major update on November 16, when Season 1 launches and Warzone 2.0 releases.
In a blog post, Activision detailed what’s coming to Modern Warfare 2 in Season 1. There is quite a lot of information, but there are a few big-ticket items on the list that are sure to get the attention of Call of Duty fans.
Yes, Shipment and Shoot House are coming back to Call of Duty. The fan-favorite Modern Warfare (2019) maps will be making a return in Modern Warfare 2, but will be “reimagined.” The two maps were famous back in Modern Warfare 2019 for their smaller size and how easy it was to grind camos on them.
Season 1 is also getting a new battle pass system. Players can now choose from a number of different “sectors” of the battle pass. This means that players can choose to progress towards specific items in the order that they want.
Season 1 will add four weapons and six operators, with the limited time FC event including Paul Pogba, Neymar Jr. and Lionel Messi.
Spec Ops is going to get a new mission and the first Raid is coming. Activision said that the raid will be focused on continuing the story from Modern Warfare 2 in some capacity.
Warzone 2.0 will also still have custom loadouts, so you can drop them in and take care of enemies with your own guns and attachments. There is also a new backpack system, which will be “fully integrated for DMZ and streamlined for Battle Royale modes.”
And yes, there’s proximity chat in Warzone 2.0!
In terms of leveling up, Modern Warfare 2 is getting a new seasonal prestige system that will feature more challenges and more rewards. There is also a CDL Moshpit which will be a competitive multiplayer mode. This is sort of an overview of what can be expected before Ranked play comes in 2023.
