The new Final Destination movie’s directors were able to secure their job after they pulled off a crazy stunt during a Zoom pitch interview.
Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, the duo behind the 2018 sci-fi thriller Freaks, were in the running to direct Final Destination 6. However, they managed to come up with a very creative way to ensure that they got the job by essentially faking their deaths.
During the Zoom call, the fireplace that was behind Lipovsky and Stein became engulfed in flames. The mantle began to burn and the two extinguished the flames. However, the chaos did not end there and an overhead ceiling fan came crashing down and decapitated one of the directors.
The executives and producers realized that it was a stunt, and it turns out, it was. Luckily, no real decapitations.
Lipovksy and Stein had utilized pre-recorded footage and visual effects in order to create the scene. This ultimately proved their worth and has made them directors for the next Final Destination flick.
Although not many details have been revealed yet about what will be in the Final Destination reboot, it seems like the film will just follow a similar formula to the other movies in the franchise. A group of people cheat death and death will come back to take them by any means possible. This is usually accompanied by some intense death sequences.
In terms of the script, Guy Busick will be in charge alongside Lori Evans Taylor. Busick had worked on the screenplay for the latest Scream movie. Jon Watts is producing the picture and wrote the treatment for the relaunch. Watts’ wife, Dianna McGunigle will serve as producer alongside veterans of the Final Destination franchise, Craig Perry and Sheila Hanahan.
