Dwayne Johnson and Superman

It seems like a little friendly competition has formed between long-time DC actor Henry Cavill and former wrestler Dwayne Johnson following an outrageous claim Johnson made at this year’s Comic-Con.

Cavill joined DC all the way back in 2013, after the release of Man of Steel before he would then star in Batman v Superman. He ended his career with DC however in Justice League and hasn’t played Superman in almost 5 years now.

Many believe Warner Bros. got rid of Cavill’s role as Clark Kent due to how poorly Justice League performed, disappointing long-time fans of the character.

However, those disappointments were, for a brief moment, put aside after it was rumored that Cavill would be announcing his return to the DC universe at Comic-Con 2022. That brief moment didn’t last long however, after it was revealed to just be a rumor.

So now we go back to Comic-Con. During a DC panel at the convention Dwayne Johnson was asked by a fan whether or not his new character, Black Adam, would beat Superman in a fight.

Johnson Gets Booed

Johnson would reply to the question with:

That’s a great question… don’t threaten me with a good time, cause I’m going to answer that question. Well, I will say, as you guys know, because we’re all in deep with this mythology, and it’s been an age-old question of who would win a fight between Black Adam and Superman. Pound for pound, they’re pretty close. I guess it probably all depends on who is playing Superman; I’m just going to say that. I’ll leave it at that.

This well-thought out response was met with immediate booing from fans who felt it implied that Cavill would no longer be playing Superman.

The response does leave some air of confusion as to what actor will be in the suit in the future, but no announcements nor teases have been made.

What do you think? Do you think Dwayne Johnson deserved the booing? Do you think Cavill will ever return to DC? Let us know in the comments down below!
