Diablo Immortal has made $24 million in revenue in two weeks

Despite all the controversy regarding Diablo Immortal’s microtransactions, the new installment to the Blizzard franchise has already generated over $24 million USD in revenue in its first two weeks.

As reported by PCGamesN, industry tracking website AppMagic has shed some light on some of the data regarding Diablo Immortal’s microtransactions. The game itself is free-to-play.

The USA and South Korea were revealed to have spent the most money on Diablo Immortal and the game has been downloaded more than five million times. 26% of the global downloads and 43% of the revenue are attributed to the United States. 23% of the revenue is attributed to South Korea and 8% to Japan.

Although many players were angered at the microtransactions and the loot system, with many calling it a pay-to-win game, it seems like the microtransactions have been widely successful for the Blizzard title.

Microtransactions have long been a controversial point in video games, regardless of the price of the actual game. Halo Infinite was under fire at launch due to its microtransaction system and Call of Duty has been criticized for its microtransactions recently as well.

However, with the revenue being generated, it doesn’t look like the microtransactions are going away anytime soon.
