The long-awaited biopic about the life of musician ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic’s release date has finally been revealed. The bizarre, humorous singer will be played by Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe and it will come out to Roku on November 4th.
The movie was teased on Roku’s official Instagram with a movie poster showcasing a red-donned Radcliffe with his back to the camera. It was captioned “Daniel Radcliffe is WEIRD. Stream #WEIRDTheAlYankovicStory free on November 4. Only on The Roku Channel.”
Weird: The Yankovic Story, the film’s official name, will star Evan Wood as Madonna, Quinta Bruson as Oprah, and Rain Wilson as Dr. Demento. Many other big names like Toby Huss will also be found throughout the biopic.
Yankovic was apparently heavily involved in the film’s making and even served as a co-writer, working alongside director Eric Appel.
Radcliffe talked about landing the role during a Jimmy Fallon interview back in March. He spoke about how, during the interview, he had never actually met Yankovic in person before he was chosen for the role.
When I talked to Al for the first time, I was like ‘I’m immensely flattered by the idea that you would pick me to play you, but like, why me?’
He began taking accordion lessons with Yankovic following his selection for the part.
