Call of Duty Modern Warfare II, set to be a sequel to the 2019 Modern Warfare reboot, is reportedly releasing later this year. Since 2021, leaks and rumors have been spreading about what to anticipate for the 2022 title, with the latest rumor revealing a third mode reportedly inspired by Escape from Tarkov. Escape from Tarkov is a realistic tactical shooter popular for having realistic injuries and the feature of losing gear left behind.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare II was confirmed to have a “sandbox” mode, which is counter to the usual zombies or spec ops that are found in most Call of Duty games.
Call of Duty leaker, TheGhostofHope, posted information about the mode reportedly called DMZ, stating that it will launch in a beta phase. “Something like the DMZ doesn’t become final until the general public has gotten hands on it. It’s a large mode that needs maintenance.” He also noted that the mode will be “more tactical” with players being able to lose items in their inventory, just like Escape from Tarkov.
