It has been confirmed that the next entry to the Assassin’s Creed franchise will be Assassin’s Creed Mirage. After artwork for Mirage leaked, Ubisoft confirmed in a tweet several features about the game aside from its name.

The image shared by Ubisoft about Assassin’s Creed Mirage shows the game’s protagonist Basim, an assassin that was introduced in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla back in 2020. The artwork features Baghdad’s Palace of the Golden Gate in the background. Assassin’s Creed Mirage is set in the 9th Century Abbasid Caliphate.

It was leaked early on that Assassin’s Creed Mirage (previously codenamed Assassin’s Creed Rift) would have Basim star as the main character. Spoiler alert, but Basim turns out to be a reincarnation of the Norse deity Loki in Valhalla.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is set to return to more of the original Assassin’s Creed roots, with a Middle East setting and a stealth-focused gameplay.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage was originally supposed to be an expansion for Valhalla, but eventually was large enough to become its own title.

Ubisoft has confirmed that more about Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be explained during the Ubisoft Forward livestream event on September 10, and what the future of the franchise will look like.
