Olivia Newton-John has passed away at the age of 73 due to breast cancer

Singer-songwriter and actress Olivia Newton-John has died of breast cancer at 73. She a four-time Grammy winner and star of one of the famous musical, Grease.

Her husband, John Easterling, announced on social media that she died, stating, “Dame Olivia Newton-John passed away peacefully at her Ranch in Southern California this morning, surrounded by family and friends. We ask that everyone please respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”

“Olivia has been a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer. Her healing inspiration and pioneering experience with plant medicine continues with the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund, dedicated to researching plant medicine and cancer. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made in her memory to the @onjfoundation.”

Back in May 2017, Newton-John announced that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and that it had metastasized to the sacrum. She completed photon radiation therapy in addition to natural wellness therapies after consulting with her medical team at the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre in Melbourne, Australia.

She would live another five years after he diagnosis, calling herself a “cancer thriver.”

Back in 2020, Newton-John told reporters “I’m winning over [cancer] well and that’s how I see it. I don’t think about it a lot, to be honest. Denial is a really good thing and I’m getting stronger and better all the time! I’m doing well!”

Fellow Grease star, John Travolta, paid tribute to her, stating that “We will see you down the road and we will all be together again.”
