Netflix’s newest film, directed by Rian Johnson, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, will be premiering at the 2022 Toronto Film Festival sometime this year.

The film is a sequel to Johnson’s 2019 Knives Out, which was released by Lionsgate studio and made a whopping $311.4 million at the Box Office. The movie told the story of detective Benoit Blanc, played by Daniel Craig, and he will be returning for the new film which will take place in Greece.

The film will host a cast of the likes of Edward Norton, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom JR., Madelyn Cline, Dave Bautista, an d more.

The Toronto Film Festival’s showing of the film in a red-carpet launch is a part of their new focus on returning to pre-pandemic era engagement and activity. The festival will be seeing its 47th edition this year, and it’ll be marked by big Hollywood names and tentpole attractions.

Johnson earned an Oscar nomination back in 2020 for the original film, which Netflix would earn the rights to for $469 million from Lionsgate, with requirements being that Craig stars in each film going forwards, and that Netflix utilizes the budget of the original film ($40 million) as a minimum.
