For the past decade and a half or so one of the most popular health trends in the western world has been a heavy focus on “superfoods” such as kale and spinach. Countless studies, documentaries, and news reports have been published over the years pushing for a greater shift in focus to these different foods as a means of promoting healthy eating habits amongst the American population.

People constantly run towards fruits and vegetables as a means of getting these essential nutrients whilst staying lean. They don’t realize what they’re throwing away as an alternative!

To anyone who knows about the all the tremendous power beef holds, it’s no secret that beef liver is one of the best, if not the best, pieces of meat out there. The amount of raw and necessary nutrients it holds far surpasses the benefits of kale. And so here are just a few of those benefits.

#1: 1/4 of Beef Liver is Made up of Essential Proteins

Yup, you read that right. Over a fourth of beef liver is protein-based. These proteins are very high-quality, containing all kinds of essential amino acids.

Of course, we all know meat provides a great natural source of protein, better than any alternative. One of the most protein-rich parts of the cow however is its organs, mainly its liver. The essential amino acids that are needed to build up proteins in the body are all found in the liver.

One of the great and many benefits of protein lies in its ability to aid in muscle buildup and metabolism. A high protein intake can aid in weight loss and hunger.

#2: Beef Liver Aids in Calcium Balance

Another great benefit when it comes to consuming beef liver is its concentration of Vitamin K2. This is arguably a necessity when it comes to your diet, and it’s quite shocking how little people have of it.

K2 aids in calcium balance which, as many of us know, helps strengthen bones. Low bone density is a result of a low calcium concentration, which is dangerous when it comes to one’s safety and strength. The other great thing that vitamin K2 does is keep Calcium away from the arterial walls which can help avoid heart disease. It is thus an arguably essential vitamin.

Other foods like milk and salmon are also high in calcium concentration, but liver takes the advantage when it comes to its vitamin concentration.

#3: Beef Liver Contains 4 Different Skin-Healthy Nutrients

Another way beef liver helps out is when it comes to skin care. Beef Liver contains 4 separate skin-necessary nutrients and minerals, which are:

  • Vitamins A, C, and E
  • Zinc

Where these vitamins come into play differentiates per each one. Vitamin A lessens one’s aging appearance thickening and firming the skin, while Vitamin C protects the skin from UV radiation. This is a massive benefit of this essential nutrient and is one of the reasons it is considered such a necessity.

#4: Beef Liver Aids in Detox Diets

One if the great benefits of liver is its concentration of molybdenum, a major essential mineral needed for detox diets or plans. There is a very high level of the mineral in organ meats.

Molybdenum operates like a sort of coenzyme which converts sulfites to sulfates. Many don’t know this but sulfites that buildup can be destructive to the human body, and so having a high concentration of Molybdenum is very crucial from a health-perspective. The great thing about liver is that this mineral can be found naturally in the meat.

#5: Beef Liver May Lower Blood Pressure

Finally, beef liver is filled with vital micronutrients, such as Potassium, Magnesium, and Vitamin B3, also known as Niacin.

All of these nutrients promote a healthy heart, and with potassium in the mix, this may be able to lower one’s blood pressure. This has massive benefits on its own, the most widely-known one being a lower risk of heart attacks.
