Ubisoft planning on adding more devs to work on Assassin’s Creed

It looks like Ubisoft is making good on their efforts to double-down on Assassin’s Creed. With Assassin’s Creed Mirage releasing later this year and more Assassin’s Creed titles in development, Ubisoft is planning on adding more devs to work on Assassin’s Creed.

Ubisoft is currently intending to expand the number of developers working on Assassin’s Creed by 40 percent, a clearly high number of developers.

According to Ubisoft’s chief financial officer, Frederick Duget, Ubisoft has around 2,000 people currently working on Assassin’s Creed, with the number expected to rise to nearly 2,800 over the coming years. Ubisoft wants to reallocate current staff in the company to the franchise, meaning that it will not be part of an overall expansion.

Currently, aside from Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Ubisoft is working on Assassin’s Creed Codename Red and Codename Hexe. There is also a mobile game in development titled Codename Jade. The last Assassin’s Creed to release was Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which had more players than Origins and Odyssey and generated more revenue overall, according to Ubisoft.

Ubisoft is also working with Netflix to produce a live-action Assassin’s Creed series and a mobile game for Netflix.

A lot is happening in the Ubisoft world, so hopefully this doubling-down on Assassin’s Creed will prove to be worth it at the end of the day. Assassin’s Creed has long been a beloved franchise from Ubisoft, so hopefully it can continue strong for the future.
