Sony just revealed that God of War: Ragnarok is now the fastest selling first-party game in PlayStation history.
As revealed in a tweet, 5.1 million copies of God of War: Ragnarok have been sold during the game’s first week. This includes both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 copies as well as physical and digital sales.
The first God of War title surpassed 23 million copies sold on PlayStation 4 and PC as of November 2022. God of War was Sony’s biggest PC launch to date. It’s also possible that Sony might port God of War: Ragnarok to PC, which would certainly boost its sales there.
The fact that God of War: Ragnarok is the fastest selling title also mark a record for the God of War franchise. The title has received massive amounts of praise from reviewers and players alike. It also currently holds the most nominations in The Game Awards 2022 this year, just ahead of Elden Ring.
God of War: Ragnarok was developed by Sony Santa Monica and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The title is available for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
