Deep Silver and Dambuster Studios have announced that their upcoming title, Dead Island 2 has been delayed and will be releasing on April 28, 2023. This marks the game’s second delay now.
Dead Island 2 was originally set to release on February 3, 2023. However, the release date has been pushed back by 12 weeks with no indication as to what the reason is.
The announcement was revealed in a statement on Twitter, which reads:
“We have some important news to share, so let’s rip that band aid off straight away. We are delaying Dead Island 2.
“The new release date will be April 28th 2023.”
This would not be the first time that Dead Island 2 has faced issues with its release. Back in 2014, it received its first trailer, but since then, not much was revealed about the game. Development of Dead Island 2 also shifted between multiple studios until it was handed off to Dambuster Studios.
Dead Island 2 got an update during Gamescom 2022 when it also got a release date, but that has now changed after the announcement of it being delayed.
“The irony of delaying Dead Island 2 is not lost on us, and we are as disappointed as you undoubtedly are. The delay is just 12 short weeks and development is on the final straight now; we’re going to take the time we need to make sure we can launch a game we’re proud to launch.”
A new trailer and gameplay reveal for Dead Island 2 will premier on December 6.
