HBO has released the first trailer for its adaptation of The Last of Us, a popular PlayStation exclusive title.
The adaptation is the first TV series from PlayStation Productions, which was formed by Sony Interactive Entertainment to adapt its original game properties for film and TV.
When the series releases, it will air on HBO Max in the US and Sky in the UK. The story of the series is set to cover the events of the first game, and potentially some content on The Last of Us Part 2.
Pedro Pascal, the star of The Mandalorian and Narcos, is playing Joel in The Last of Us TV show. Back in April, he revealed that he didn’t play much of the game, worried that it would affect his preparation for the series.
“I watched [my nephew play] for as long as I was able to that day, and then I had to leave Florida. I found Joel so impressive — I found the whole of it such a visually impressive experience. And then I got worried that I would want to imitate too much, which I think could be right in some circumstances, and then a mistake in others.
“So I just wanted to create a healthy distance, and for that to be more in the hands of Craig Mazin and Neil Druckman.”
Bella Ramsey will be playing Ellie, with Nico Parker (Dumbo) playing Joel’s daughter Sarah and Gabriel Luna (Marvel’s Agents of Shield) will star as Joel’s brother Tommy.
