Atlanta

A prosecutor in the Greater Atlanta area has announced a massive indictment on Monday after multiple celebrities living in the city were targeted by a violent street gang.

The gang had been coming after the homes of openly wealthy people in the metropolitan area that flaunted that wealth online. Of these people, four famous celebrities all had their homes broken into. Mariah Carey, the musician, Marlo Hampton, Brad Guzan, and Calvin Ridley all fell victim to the street gang.

The indictment, a 220-count report, was filed on August 22nd and charges 26 people involved in the case. Fulton County DA Fani Willis stated that the gang involved was known as the ‘Drug Rich’ gang, which formed nearby back in 2016. The gang is being charged for carjacking, armed robbery, home invasions, kidnapping, and shooting against some of the regions’ celebrities and social media personalities.

“What they do is target people who show their wealth on social media. So I do have a message for the public: Where it is kind of fun to put your things on social media and show off, unfortunately these gangs are becoming more savvy, more sophisticated in the way that they target you,” the District Attorney stated.

However, in regards to the actual gang members, Willis stated: “If you thought Fulton was a good county to bring your crime to, to bring your violence to, you are wrong and you are going suffer consequences and today is the start of some of those consequences.”

“I am not going to negotiate with gang members. I am not going to allow pleas,” she also stated. Willis made it known that bringing down gang violence in the area is one of her top priorities. “We are going to find you, we are going to convict you and we’re going to send you to the prison for the rest of your days, and I’m not apologizing for that.”
