Discord has announced today that it is working with Xbox to finally add integration of their voice chat feature to the console.
What this means is that Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One owners will now be able to communicate with others on Discord Voice chat from their console. The integration eliminates the need to use other devices and simplifies the communication process for Discord and Xbox users.
In a press release via Microsoft, Discord noted that Xbox Insider will receive the integration today while all other users will wait until a later date. They additionally noted that the integration was something widely requested by players. Prior to the announcement, Xbox owners could display basic information like a Gamertag but could not use Voice chats on the console.
Another promised feature in the new integration by Discord would allow users to transfer voice calls from the app on desktop or mobile to the consoles by using the Xbox mobile app.
The new announcement comes to the excitement of many, as the feature will ease communication and reduce the number of required devices needed to be used while gaming with others.
