Tesla, the leader in electric vehicles, has posted its third-quarter vehicle production and delivery numbers for 2022. A record number of 343,000 vehicles were sold in the third quarter, with 365,000 total vehicles being produced in the same timeframe.
The deliveries did fall short of analyst expectations of 364,660 vehicles.
Tesla said in its report that the company produced 19,935 of its higher priced Model S and X vehicles, as well as 345,988 of the popular Model 4 and Y vehicles in Q3.
About a year ago, Tesla reported deliveries of 254,695 vehicles and it had produced 237,823, including 8,941 Model S and X vehicles.
The Model S and X are the more expensive sedan and SUV, respectively.
Tesla did face many of the troubles that other companies and automotive manufacturers did in Q3 2022, with inflation and rising prices across the board.
Tesla faced many issues this year in its operations, with its Shanghai factory suspending production temporarily to upgrade the plant, but later reopening. At the end of Q2 in the US, Tesla laid off an entire AI office and made several staff cuts.
Elon Musk enforced mandates that all Tesla employees need to work at least 40 hours per week in a Tesla office, even if they had been allowed to work remotely before. Additionally, Tesla came under fire after mass layoffs across several factories took place earlier 2022.
