Samsung has officially launched its One UI 5 open beta program on the Galaxy S22 Series, which includes the Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra. The One UI 5 is set to bring features and lots of new customization, which is something that Samsung is describing as its “ongoing commitment to delivering the latest mobile experiences to as many users as possible.”
A host of new features is set to come with the One UI 5, giving users more “control and more options.” Janghyun Yoon, Executive Vice President and Head of Software Platform Team of Mobile eXperience (MX) Business stated in a press release by Samsung that “We’re excited to offer early access to all the new customizable features that come with One UI 5.”
The One UI 5 open beta will allow for Galaxy S22 users to have more in-depth customization, something that most Android phones have been praised for in the past. Users will have access to 16 preset color themes that are based on their wallpaper and then 12 more color options for the home screen, icons, and quick panels.
Much like most smartphones and laptops today, widgets will also be available, but the One UI 5 will have widget stacking, keeping the screen much more organized. Notifications from certain apps can also be blocked in order to filter out all the noise with new controls.
The One UI 5 will also let Galaxy users use preferred languages for different apps and will change the sound and vibration settings to provide easier access to ringtone volumes and vibration intensities.
In addition to this, Samsung is letting users with the One UI 5 open beta “seamlessly capture high-quality photos and video with new a new icon in Pro and Pro Video mode,” enhancing the camera use experience.
In terms of accessibility, Samsung mentioned that there were going to be more accessibility features to let users have an easier time with the new One UI 5. There is now a new Magnifier feature that will let users better view and read on their devices. There is also spoken assistance like audio descriptions of videos.
Users can also view the status of their device’s security from the new dashboard on the One UI 5. The user will also be given recommendations on fixing security issues that may be present.
Samsung is planning on adding more features into the future of the beta, with its already interesting innovations, it should be exciting to see what’s next.
