Netflix adding gamertags to mobile games

It looks like Netflix is aiming to expand its mobile gaming features. It’s currently testing adding gamertag-like handles that users can create and display publicly while playing through Netflix’s mobile games. Mobile developer Steve Moser first spotted this feature (via TechCrunch).

The gaming handles on Netflix would allow members to identify and invite others to play games and show up in leaderboard rankings. It looks like the gaming handles won’t be visible within Netflix Games in order to safeguard privacy.

Currently, on a select few games will have the option to use the gaming handle, including The Breach, Bowling Ballers, Mahjong Solitaire, and Heads Up!.

Despite the lower number of subscribers that play through Netflix’s mobile games, it seems like the company is going ahead full-swing on expanding its mobile gaming. They recently acquired several mobile gaming studios and are currently working on single-player titles. However, with the introduction of its very own gamertags, we may be seeing multiplayer titles very soon.
