Resident Evil Netflix canceled

Netflix has decided to not move on and make a second season for its TV show based on the popular video game franchise, Resident Evil. Season 1 released back on July 14, and was one of Netflix’s worst rated shows ever. Viewership was not strong enough, and the show paled in comparison to other releases at the time, like Stranger Things.

In the first two weeks of its release, Resident Evil debuted in the top ten Netflix shows, starting in second place and then dropping to third place. However, after that, the show basically dropped off from the top ten and didn’t make it back. It got a 55% on Rotten Tomatoes from critics, but viewers had a much more harsh reception of the show.

Many Resident Evil fans were angered at how poorly done the show seemed, and even people who weren’t fans of Resident Evil didn’t have many positive or good things to say. A month after release and pretty much everyone has forgotten about the disaster of a show that it was. Netflix announced that it would be officially canceled on August 26.

The Resident Evil show takes place in New Racoon City in the year 2036. The characters are pitted in a scenario in which a virus has nearly wiped out most of the planet and the survivors must figure out how to deal with this new world. The main villain of the show is called the Umbrella Corporation.

Netflix released an animated Resident Evil series back in 2021, but the live action might be the nail in the coffin for any future Resident Evil projects.
