After MultiVersus season 1 was reportedly delayed for an unknown amount of time, Warner Bros. Games has announced that season 1 will debut on August 15. The delay of season 1 was about a week, with the original release date planned for August 9. However, Warner Bros. stated that the game needed more polish.
MultiVersus also revealed that new characters would be joining the roster in season 1, including Morty from Rick and Morty, who will be available on August 23.
MultiVersus is a smash-bros-style fighting game featuring Warner Bros. characters including Shaggy from Scooby-Doo, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Iron Giant. The game has been in an open beta since July 26 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and the Xbox Series X/S.
The game is free-to-play and includes up to 17 unlockable characters, which players can play to earn in-game currency to buy. Players can also use premium currency sold in the marketplace.
Along with new characters, season 1 will include a ”classic arcade mode,” which seems to be a PvE mode that pits players against AI enemies. There will also be a ranked mode coming after August 15.
MultiVersus said on their official Twitter account that “everything we are bringing to you in Season 1 will not drop on the same day.”
