The Diablo IV beta may have come to a close, but over the last two weekends, Blizzard has been gathering some data. It was revealed that the Diablo IV beta was the largest in the Diablo franchise’s history, which is obviously an amazing feat on its own. We also now know which classes from the Diablo IV open beta were the most popular.
The Diablo Twitter account has revealed some information on how many times players died, how many hours played, and more. You can check out the graphic below:
It looks like the most popular classes across the two weeks were the Sorcerer and the Necromancer. The Sorcerer was available to play in both the Early and Open Beta. The Necromancer was only available to play during the Open Beta.
The Sorcerer was a great character to play as and had mostly long-range skills based on things like fire and ice. The Sorcerer also had chain lightning attacks, so they were great for clearing groups of enemies.
The Necromancer was also a powerful one to use, and allowed you to essentially use death to your advantage. It was a big favorite for most players.
People Really Played Through Diablo IV’s Beta
Over the six days that Diablo IV was available to play, over 61 million gameplay hours were clocked. That’s equivalent to just a bit over seven thousand years, in case you were wondering just how many people were really invested in this beta.
Over twenty-nine billion monsters were killed and forty-six million deaths were recorded, with Ashava being the reason behind ten million deaths. The Butcher was responsible for over one million player deaths as well.
Still, Ashava was killed over one hundred thousand times and the Butcher was killed over five hundred thousand times, so players still got some vengeance.
It’s clear that the Diablo IV open beta was a huge hit. Let’s hope the release can live up to it.
