Wallpaper Engine is one of the most widely used Steam “games.” It’s not really a game, per-se, it’s more like an application that lets you make and use special animated wallpapers on your computer. The thing is, at a $3.99 price-point, you might be wondering if it’s worth that much money just for some wallpapers. That’s a valid question, so here’s the breakdown:
What is Wallpaper Engine?
Wallpaper Engine is basically a game on Steam that lets you place animated wallpapers on your laptop/PC. When you use Wallpaper Engine, you can get access to a massive library of animated wallpapers and custom animated artwork from people on Steam.
Because there are so many wallpapers on Wallpaper Engine, chances are you’ll be able to find the one that is right for you. There are wallpapers that are just custom artwork or fandom wallpapers. For example, if you like anime a lot, you’re probably going to find something on Wallpaper Engine. Almost guaranteed. Actually, there’s a ton of anime on Wallpaper Engine come to think of it… but don’t worry, if you hate anime with a passion, you can hide all the anime results.
Is Wallpaper Engine Really Worth Money?
You see, this is a tough question to answer. At the end of the day, it’s really up to you as a consumer if you really want to use Wallpaper Engine or not. There are some free applications that let you add animated wallpapers to your computer, but they take up a lot more resources than Wallpaper Engine does.
If you care about personalization and how your computer looks, then Wallpaper Engine is probably right for you.
Personally, I’ve spent quite a lot of time using Wallpaper Engine and have come up with lots of ways to personalize my laptop screen. I recently wrote about how to customize Windows 11 to make it look cleaner, and I included Wallpaper Engine as one of the ways you can do just that.
Wallpaper Engine just makes it easier to have a more custom experience with your device. It’s not difficult to learn how to use it. Plus, you can even customize your screensaver for maximum personalization.
Sure, you can probably figure out how to do all of this stuff without Wallpaper Engine, but there’s a reason why so many Steam users have it.
You can also refund it before two hours of use within your first two weeks of purchase if you don’t like it, so if you feel like it’s a waste of money, you can still get your cash back.
