One of the most anticipated games ever, Grand Theft Auto 6 is still a ways away. However, a Bloomberg report has shed some light on new information regarding GTA 6, including its setting and that a Latina woman will be one of the two “leading” characters in the story. The story is reportedly influenced by the infamous Bonnie and Clyde, a bank robber couple.
GTA 6 was originally set to be much larger, including a map encompassing “large swaths of North and South America.” Prior, the project was codenamed Project Americas.
Since then, however, management decided to narrow down the settings to just a fictional version of Miami. Many leaks and rumors had previously stated that GTA 6 would see a return to Miami, which is called Vice City in the GTA world.
GTA 6 will have continual updates, according to the report, and new missions will be added and even entire cities. The GTA 6 map is also reportedly large, despite not being as grand as the original Project Americas outlook. There will also be more interiors to explore in GTA 6, something that could certainly be of interest to many players.
Rockstar’s developers are also taking steps to not “punch down” by including jokes about marginalized groups, which would be a step away from other GTA titles.
GTA 6’s release date is still unknown and it is unclear relatively when it may release. Development on the game is reportedly progressing slower than expected. Some factors, including COVID and changes in Rockstar’s corporate culture have contributed to the delays.
Bloomberg was told that GTA 6 is at least two years away, so it may release in 2024. However, that is still up for change at any point.
