Amazon has announced today that users in the United States, Canada, Germany, and the United Kingdom can now play Fortnite on their Fire TVs using Amazon Luna. Luna is Amazon’s cloud gaming service, which we’ve written a review about that you can check out here for more information.
Amazon Prime members can start playing the game right away All other customers will need to subscribe to Luna+ to be able to play Fortnite using the Fire TV.
With Luna, you can play any Fortnite game mode on Amazon’s line of Fire TVs, some smart TVs and streaming media players, PCs, MacBooks, Chromebooks, and even via browser on iPhone, iPad, and Android mobile devices.
If you want to play with few latency and connection issues, Amazon notes that you should have a sustained internet speed of at least 10Mbps.
Amazon also says that you can play games with Luna using Amazon’s Luna controller or PlayStation and Xbox controllers, or with a mouse and keyboard. There is also a Luna controller app that lets you use your mobile phone as a controller as well.
Daniel Rausch, Amazon’s Vice President of Entertainment Devices and Services said in a blog post that: “Fortnite has been the most requested game from Luna customers in the U.S. and we’re thrilled to bring the title to the service.
“We’re committed to making gaming more accessible and more affordable, without the need for expensive hardware.”
Amazon also said that Prime members can play LEGO DC Super-Villains, Resident Evil 2, Overcooked!, and Time on Frog Island for free throughout the month of May.
Prime memberships cost $14.99 per month and Luna+ costs $9.99 per month.
