Food lovers all over the world will probably agree with me when I say that food is one of the most interesting and exciting aspects of a vacation. Many are even actively searching for vacations centered around food!

But what really sets the bar when it comes to the greatest eating experiences are luxury eateries. America is one of the world’s capitals of wealth, and so it’s not a nation shy to splurging exorbitant amounts of money on food. So without any more stalling, let’s take a look at five of the U.S.A’s most expensive restaurants.

And who know, you might even want try them out sometime.

1. Masa, NYC, New York

Masa is one of New York’s finest restaurants. It was opened in 2004 by famous chef Masa Takayama. The restaurant is unique from most other locations, as it only has 26 seats and no menu.

Instead, the chef curates the dishes of the day based off of what fresh. This is a tradition known as ‘Omakase dining’ in Japan, and it’s very interesting to see it re-done in America. That being said, the cost of eating at the restaurant is not cheap at all. Expect to pay up to $600 per person if you decide to come here.

If you don’t plan to spend so much howeber, Takayama’s BarMasa next door is cheaper and has a menu-based system.

2. Atelier Crenn, San Francisco, California

The Atelier Crenn restaurant is one of the city’s top locations for the wealthy. The eatery, begun by Dominique Crenn in early 2011, has built up a reputation of serving fine dishes for high prices. A standard dinner of two at the location can rack up to $1000 in value.

The money does translate into returns however. Eating at the Crenn can get you some of the highest-quality scallops, caviar, Wagyu, and more out of any restaurant you’ve been to.

3. Saison, San Francisco, California

San Francisco makes the list again with its two-Michelin star winning restaurant, Saison. Saison offers something they call a ‘discovery menu’ with over 20 courses. The focus is on the experience with this location however, as the kitchen is in the middle of the dining area and open for customers to view.

The chefs cook up dishes with bizarre ingredients like sea urchin and duck-liver toffee. However, this experience isn’t cheap as it can cost you around $400 per person.

4. French Laundry, Yountville, California

The French Laundry, contrary to its name, is no laundry house. The restaurant is owned by Thomas Keller, and combines French and modern American styles to bring to is customers one of the most beautiful menus out there.

The former-saloon offers both vegetarian and standard menu options, although each charges up to $355 per person. The restaurant takes a new direction with food however, using it as a canvas rather than just a meal. It’s an interesting place and if you have the money for it, it should definitely be on your bucket list!

5. Restaurant Guy Savoy, Las Vegas, Nevada

Nestled in the lavish Caesar’s Palace hotel is the Guy Savoy restaurant, named after its famous chef. The restaurant is known for its beautiful French eating experience, as it gets its design from Savoy’s Paris location.

Dish prices are incredibly expensive however due to the ingredients used . The lobster dish costs a massive $125, while a special menu known as the seven-course White truffle Menu costs $450 per person.

Conclusion

Not everyone is willing to spend thousands on a meal, even if they have the funds for it. We get it; it does seem like a lot when you put it in the grand scheme of things. However, one thing that’s clear is that at these locations you get what you pay for.

No one said a luxurious lifestyle is easy or cheap, but for those with money, it is certainly fun.
