Ubisoft has announced that Far Cry 5 is finally getting a 60FPS patch for the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 as a celebration of the game’s fifth anniversary.
The news was revealed via Twitter today by the studio:
On top of the patch, there will be a free weekend from March 23 to March 27 on consoles and PC. The Far Cry Twitter account had initially teased that a “highly requested feature for next-gen consoles” would be coming, and now we know that it’s the 60FPs patch.
In addition to this, there will be several announcements over the next few weeks regarding Far Cry. There are currently no specifics as to what those announcements will be. It could possibly be a reveal for Far Cry 7, which would be the next mainline title in the Far Cry series. However, that is all currently speculation.
Far Cry 5 originally released in 2018 for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. The DZSH Group stated that Far Cry 5 was definitively worth playing back in 2022, with Zainah Yousef writing: “Far Cry 5, no matter how old it may get, holds up as an excellent title. If you haven’t gotten a chance to play it, you’re missing out on a lot.”
