Bethesda has announced that Fallout 4 is getting a next-gen upgrade for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2023.
During the Fallout 25th Anniversary celebration, Bethesda released a blog post announcing that the update–which will be free–is also coming to PC.
Fallout 4’s upgrade will include a performance mode to allow for higher frame rates, a quality mode for 4K graphics, bug fixes and more Creation Club content (Bethesda’s official mod support).
No specific date was given in regards to when the update would be released, nor a window of time where it can be expected. There were also no details on the full list of features coming. It is likely that Fallout 4 will get things like haptic feedback for PlayStation 5 and other console-specific upgrades.
In terms of what’s next for Fallout, Fallout 5 is probably years away since Bethesda is currently working on Starfield, which releases in 2023. The Elder Scrolls 6 is coming after Starfield, so we may not see Fallout 5 for a long time.
In other Fallout 4 news, a “DLC-sized” mod for Fallout 4 is coming in 2023. Check out the details here.
