Despite being recently brought back online, Dark Souls 3′s PC servers are offline due to an unspecified “problem” that is currently being investigated.
The official Twitter account for Dark Souls 3 posted a statement, saying: “At this time, there is a confirmed issue with Dark Souls III online play via the Steam platform.
We are investigating the source of the problem and will inform you as soon as more details become available. Thank you for your patience.”
The servers for PC had been down for most of 2022, starting in January. The PvP servers for the PC versions of Dark Souls: Remastered, Dark Souls 2, and Dark Souls 3 were deactivated after the discovery of a remote code execution vulnerability that could allow hackers to take complete control of a player’s computer if exploited.
Near the end of August, the servers were brought back once again, but that was short-lived. No word has been given on when servers will come back online.
Last month, Bandai Namco–the publisher for Dark Souls and Elden Ring–confirmed that its servers were hacked and that confidential information had been acquired. It also said that it could not rule out the possibility that customer information was part of the leak.
Rockstar also recently suffered a major hack that led to the leaking of GTA 6 development footage.
