Cult of the Lamb, the rogue-like from Massive Monster and Developer Digital, will be getting its first major content update some time in 2023. The update will add new things like a new difficulty level, heavy attacks, depth, and improvements to quality of life. The update will also be free to players.
Cult of the Lamb was a fan-favorite in 2022 and was nominated for the Best Indie Game at The Game Awards. Cult of the Lamb was praised by players and critics, with many buying it up and enjoying everything it had to offer.
The first major content update is set to release in 2023 and will add improvements and new content. Several additions were previously heavily requested by fans of Cult of the Lamb, including heavy attacks and the new difficulty level.
Massive Monster released a series of gameplay clips over on Twitter, showing how the new mechanics and additions would work:
In order to trigger the heavy attack, players will have to press and hold the attack button, which will have special powers depending on the equipped weapon. For instance, players using a heavy attack while wielding an Axe can throw it like a boomerang to deal damage. The Axe returns to the player’s location after that.
There still have not been many details revealed about what the difficulty level will look like, as well as what new accessibility features are coming to Cult of the Lamb. However, it seems like the developers are intent on listening to fans and have stated that: “We have another round of fixes scheduled for the new year. It is focused on resolving many issues for console players. After that, we will be working on releasing the Major Content Update as soon as we can!”
