Chris Rock says Will Smith apology video is 'hostage' video

We all know by now the infamous Oscars slap that rocked the internet for some time. After comedian Chris Rock made a jab at Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair, reportedly unaware of her alopecia diagnosis, Will Smith slapped him on stage and cursed at him. Smith would later receive the Oscar for Best Actor that night.

After some time, Will Smith released an apology video to Chris Rock for his actions. In the apology, Will Smith stated that he tried to reach out to Chris Rock, but had not yet seen success in that move. He also added that his “behavior was unacceptable and I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk.”

However, at a performance with Dave Chappelle at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday evening, Rock said this in response to the video: “f*** your hostage video.” Rock continued and stated that the slap hurt, referencing Will Smith’s previous role as legendary boxer Muhammad Ali in the 2001 film, Ali.

Chappelle also talked about the Oscars slap, saying to the audience that if he had been slapped by Will Smith, then Smith would not have “enjoyed the rest of his night.”
