I promised myself after Call of Duty: Vanguard that I wouldn’t get my hopes up too high for any new Call of Duty game, but they did it. They played off of my nostalgia and succeeded.
Modern Warfare II has always been the ultimate COD for me. Every time someone asks what my favorite Call of Duty is, it’s always Modern Warfare II. Hands down. I don’t think my answer has changed once since I played the original 2009 version of the game. I bought the remaster back when it released.
And uh…looks like I’ll be picking up the reboot in 2022.
I watched the worldwide reveal on June 8 and the gameplay reveal as well and they were both way too exciting for me. I know some people are trying to say “oh don’t be excited because it’s just COD and they do this every year,” but I wasn’t nearly this excited when Vanguard or Cold War were revealed.
I actually skipped out on Vanguard but I did get Cold War on sale back when it came out. While Cold War wasn’t as bad as I anticipated, Vanguard was probably a good one to miss out on. The thing is, having a yearly COD is just too much and I really hope they drop the annual releases soon.
Either way, Modern Warfare II’s gameplay reveal looked like an homage to The Only Easy Day…Was Yesterday mission in the original 2009 version. The graphics look stellar and the sounds are so good. The gameplay was so satisfying to watch. The guns looked great. At the end of the day, I seriously don’t think you can go too wrong with Modern Warfare titles.
Some people really hated Modern Warfare 2019, but it seems to be one of the most popular Call of Duty titles in recent years. Three years later, and the big Call of Duty YouTubers are still playing it. I feel like that has to say something about the quality or at least the fun-factor of MW2019.
I’m really hoping that Modern Warfare II can pick up the pace where Cold War and Vanguard faltered. If I’m wrong, I’ll be disappointed to be honest.
In any case, let me know what you all think about the new Call of Duty reveals so far and if you’re preordering or if you’re skipping out this year.
