Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe entry by Disney, is holding an international promotional tour and has just held a historic premiere in Lagos, Nigeria on Sunday.
Ryan Coogler, Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, Winston Duke, and Michaela Coel were in attendance on Sunday at the Nigerian premiere alongside producer Nate Moore and other soundtrack artists and producers.
Last week, a world premiere was held in Los Angeles, California as well as a debut in Europe at London. The Nigeria premiere was held in association with the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) and FilmOne Entertainment.
Founder of AFRIFF, Chimoa Ude, spoke about the significance of the African premiere and it being hosted in Nigeria. “We are excited and proud to be a part of the premiere of this milestone film here in Africa. This is huge for the continent of Africa as it symbolizes to us further bridging of the gaps between the global film industries,” Ude said.
Black Panther is still the highest ranking film in both East and West Africa, with it premiering in Johannesburg, South Africa back in 2018.
