Former US President Barack Obama has won an Emmy for his narration in the Netflix nature documentary series, Our Great National Parks.
He is now the second US President to earn an Emmy, after Dwight Eisenhower, who was given the award while in office in 1956.
Obama won the Emmy for Outstanding Narrator, beating Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (Black Patriots: Heroes of the Civil War), David Attenhorough (The Mating Game), W. Kamau Bell (We Need to Talk About Cosby), and Lupita Nyong’o (Serengeti II).
Obama had been previously nominated for an Emmy back in 2016 for David Attenborough Meets President Obama.
Our Great National Parks was produced by The Obamas’ production company Higher Ground and published on Netflix as a five-part series. It launched back in April and highlights some of the most spectacular national parks.
It was the first in the Obamas’ Netflix deal.
