Comic-Con 2022 brought all kinds of huge updates and announcements for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, one of which was an unveiling of phases 4, 5, and 6.
Phase 6 saw two new Avengers films to be released, something that shocked many fans seeing as Avengers: Endgame appeared to be the last one. Although we don’t have many details on the second Avengers film to be released, we have received a major update for Avengers 5.

Kevin Feige revealed the new director for the film to the audience during his panel at Comic-Con.
Destin Daniel Cretton, the director behind Marvel’s hit-film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will be returning to the studio to direct Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
Cretton’s original Marvel film, which made a whopping $432 million at the global box office, signed a deal with the studio following his film’s success. As part of his contract he’ll be working alongside Andrew Guest, the writer behind Brooklyn Nine-Nine, to produce a live action Wonder Man series that he may direct an episode of as well.
He’ll also be producing an exciting Shang-Chi sequel.
Current details on The Kang Dynasty are unknown, which includes the cast, characters, storyline, writer, and more. Considering the movie will be releasing during Marvel’s Phase 6, all the way in mid-2025, that’s not surprising. The second Avengers movie to come, Secret Wars, will be coming out in November of that same year for a back-to-back Avengers premier.
What we do know about The Kang Dynasty however is that the main villain, Kang, will be played by Jonathon Majors, who made his first Marvel appearance in Loki. Kang will also show up in 2023’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which might give us some early-info on the 2025 film.
In the Disney+ series Loki Majors played Kang’s role as well, however he revealed at Comic-Con that the Kangs that showed up in the series and that will show up in the Ant-Man film are different than the 2025 Avengers movie, as there are different Kangs.
Other Marvel Films
As for other Marvel movies, the studio has hired a number of directors, which have also been revealed. Blade will be directed by Bassam Tariq, and it’ll be released on November third. Captain America: New World Order will be released on May 3 of 2024 and will be directed by Julius Onah. It’ll also see a new face for Captain America.
Thunder Bolts will be directed by Jake Schreier, and will come out on July 26 of 2024. It’ll also be the end for Phase 5.
Secret Wars will most likely be an adaptation of the Avengers comic series that was published throughout the mid-80’s. Marvel tends to avoid directly remaking its comics into films, and usually adapts them in some way, even if that means going completely off the original storyline. Although there is some confusion surrounding how the film will work, it was confirmed that the rumors of the Russo brothers directed that movie were dispelled after a Comic-Con panel.
