Assassin’s Creed Mirage recently got a reveal trailer during Ubisoft Forward, and a lot of information is circulating about expectations people are having regarding this title. However, it looks like Ubisoft has confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s parkour system will be based off of Assassin’s Creed Unity.

Despite Assassin’s Creed Unity suffering from some negative reception at the beginning, it’s quickly grown into a beloved title due to its great parkour system and smooth movement. In fact, I wrote an article a while ago talking about how Unity set a standard for movement in gaming.

In an interview with Arab Hardware, lead producer for Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Fabian Salomon, spoke about several mechanics and some more details regarding what players can expect from Assassin’s Creed Mirage. The DZSH Group translated the information and some of it sounds very promising.

Firstly, it does look like Assassin’s Creed Mirage will utilize the environment to its advantage, with parkour inspired by Assassin’s Creed Unity, as well as some more fast-paced animations. Additionally, it does look like there will be large NPC crowds and a vibrant city, which will provide for more social stealth opportunities. Salomon did say that there will be new social stealth mechanics.

In a nod to the origins of the series, Assassin’s Creed Mirage will also bring back Assassination Contracts that players were introduced to back in Assassin’s Creed II and Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood.

Salomon did confirm that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will mainly focus on the story of Basim from a thief to a Master Assassin in Baghdad during the 9th Century and that it will not really dip much into the modern storyline.

It is also know by now that Assassin’s Creed Mirage was an expansion for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, so the interviewer did inquire on if the mechanics and movement would be based off of Valhalla. Salomon explained that as Basim is not a Viking, his movements and animations were basically overhauled to fit the assassin-style gameplay fans know from the original games. Basically, the movement in the trailer is supposed to be the movement we will see in-game.

As to why Ubisoft decided to go back to the roots of the franchise, Salomon stated that they had listened to fan feedback and realized that people wanted an adventure with assassins like the original titles.

There’s certainly a lot to look forward to in Assassin’s Creed Mirage!
