The hit Netflix horror series, The Midnight Club by Mike Flanagan and Leah Fong has just broken a Guinness World Record for the most jump scares in a single episode.

The series, based on the ’90s horror book by Christopher Pike, has 21 jump scares in its first episode. 17 of which are within one story. According to Variety, a Guinness World Records official presented Mike Flanagan with an official certificate onstage at New York Comic Con.

The Midnight Club follows the life of eight young people: Ilonka (Iman Benson), Spencer (Chris Sumpter), Natsuki (Aya Furukawa), Amesh (Sauriyan Sapkota), Anya (Ruth Codd), Cheri (Adia), Sandra (Midnight Mass’ Annarah Cymone), and Kevin (Midnight Mass’ Igby Rigney). The eight live in a care facility called Brightcliffe Hospice. Each night, the eight sneak into the library and tell spooky stories to each other.

In episode 1, Natsuki tells a story inspired by Japanese horror films that talks about a school girl ghost that continuously scares a boy as he’s trying to live his life. The scene features a total of 17 jump scares, with many coming right after each other.
