Head of Microsoft Studios, Matt Booty, wants to have Fable showed off on the Xbox Series X already. However, Playground Games, the developer behind the title, says that it’s not ready to be shown just yet.

At PAX West 2022, Booty spoke about his desires to show off Fable due to the many interesting things being done by Playground Games:

“Part of my job is giving air cover to the team. They don’t want to show stuff early before it’s ready to go, but if there’s one game where that’s kind of flipped around where every time I see something I say, ‘We should show this,’ it’s Fable. Because there’s a lot of cool stuff.

The team has made it very clear that I am not going to be able to show anything until it’s ready.”

Booty gave a brief update on the development, stating that Playground Games is bringing the same “craft and dedication that they brought to Forza Horizon.” Booty also said that Playground has “proven that they get it” on their work with Fable.

There has been no official word on when players can expect to see more details about Fable, which was officially announced for the Xbox Series X back in July 2020.

Xbox did share that it is being developed using the Forza Engine and that the game will mark “a new beginning” for the franchise.
