US official says US shared intel with Ukraine about location of Moskva warship before it was sank
A U.S. official has said on Thursday that Ukraine was given intel on the location of the now sunken Moskva warship by the United States. The official clarified that Ukraine alone made the decision to sink the flagship of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet using anti-ship missiles.
The U.S. has also allegedly provided “a range of intelligence” including the location of the ships. The official was speaking on conditions of anonymity.
Earlier Thursday, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said that the U.S. does “not provide intelligence on the location of senior military leaders on the battlefield or participate in the targeting decisions of the Ukrainian military.”
“Ukraine combines information that we and other partners provide with the intel that they themselves are gathering and then they make their own decisions and they take their own actions.”
