Republican Tom Reed has resigned from Congress

New York Republican Congressman Tom Reed has announced on Tuesday that he is resigning his seat, ending his term a few months early. He announced his retirement back in 2021 after being accused of sexual misconduct.

“It has been an honor to serve with you all from both parties. I love this institution as it still exemplifies what is best about our government, we are the People’s house. While I am proud that we put people before politics, there is much more to do,” Reed said. He will be joining Prime Policy Group, a bipartisan lobbying group.

“My most profound appreciation is for the people of Western New York. Thank you for giving a country lawyer, the youngest of 12, raised by a single mother whose father passed away when he was only two, the honor of representing you at the highest level. Only in America can such a dream come true.”

DeSantis said that the day is meant to “honor the more than 100 million people who have fallen victim to communist regimes across the world.”

“We want to make sure that every year, folks in Florida — but particularly our students — will learn about the evils of communism, the dictators who have led communist regimes, and the hundreds of millions of individuals who have suffered and continued to suffer under the weight of this discredited ideology.”

US Spy chief says war in Ukraine will likely become “more unpredictable and escalatory”

Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines told the Senate Armed Services Committee that Putin shows no sign of ending the war in Ukraine anytime soon.

According to Haines, it is not likely that “the fight in Donbas will effectively end the war.” The intelligence community assess that Putin “is preparing for a prolonged conflict in Ukraine, during which he still intends to achieve goals beyond the Donbas.”

“At the very least, we believe the dichotomy will usher in a period of more ad hoc decision-making in Russia, both with respect to the domestic adjustments required to sustain this push, as well as the military conflict with Ukraine and the west.”

“And the current trend increases the likelihood that President Putin will turn to more drastic means, including imposing martial law, reorienting industrial production, or potentially escalatory military actions to free up the resources needed to achieve his objectives as the conflict drags on, or if he perceives Russia is losing in Ukraine.”

Thomas-Greenfield said that the assistance to Syria “will not in any way be affected by what we’re doing in Ukraine.”

9 arrested after plan crash photos were AirDropped to passengers aboard flight

Nine Israeli citizens were arrested Tuesday at Tel Aviv’s Ben Guiron airport on suspicion of making terrorist threats after passengers aboard the flight to Turkey were AirDropped photos of plan crashes on their phones just before takeoff.

Nobody was injured and the flight resumed following a security search. A passenger aboard the flight told Israel’s Channel 12 that “one woman fainted, another had a panic attack.”
