Gaijin Entertainment has announced that War Thunder, its popular online action game, will be holding a crossover event with Atomic Heart named “Atomic Thunder.” War Thunder will bring in Soviet robots to join in on the combat.
Machines featured from Atomic Heart will be available to fight against in War Thunder. There will also be other ground vehicles and helicopters produced during the Cold War by the USA and USSR. The event is live and will run until July 31st.
Atomic Thunder will divide players into two teams and see them battle it out using traditional weapons of war as well as some unique combat vehicles from Atomic Heart. This includes:
- Hedgie: Battle robot that can curl up into a ball and move swiftly, jump up and attack from above, and bombard with homing missiles using HEAT warheads
- Laser Pchela: Swift flying drone attacking with a laser
- Repair Pchela: Repairs allied vehicles and robots. Summons Burav, a powerful fighting machine that can attack from below ground
Players will also get Atomic Heart-style avatars and will apparently receive unique decorations, including posters and loading screens inspired by Atomic Heart.
War Thunder is a free-to-play MMO that features vehicle-based combat. It officially released worldwide in 2016.
We’ve talked quite a bit about Atomic Heart and in our review, we gave it a 6/10, with Zainah Yousef saying: “I personally did not enjoy Atomic Heart much as I was hoping to. However, I do not think that it’s not worth a playthrough. I would say that if you think this game interests you, then go for it.”
