Infinity Ward has announced that there will be some changes and updates coming to Warzone 2.0‘s DMZ mode, which is the Call of Duty take on extraction-based games. It has been likened to Escape From Tarkov before.
DMZ in Warzone 2.0 allows players to complete missions either in a team or totally solo while extracting loot from the Al Mazrah map. Players face off against each other and AI enemies–which have proven to be a very powerful bunch before. In fact, many players online have joked that the DMZ bots are automatically set to Veteran difficulty.
I can confirm that fighting the bots is harder than fighting the players sometimes.
Either way, DMZ has quickly become a pretty popular mode in Warzone 2.0. Infinity Ward has been pouring some good support into DMZ, adding the Building 21 area with the Season 2 Reloaded update. There’s also been a DMZ tournament.
Season 2 for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 has been delayed to February 15, with Activision basically stating that they want to work more on bringing fan-requested changes and improvements to the game. With that, even more content is being added to DMZ.
On January 21, Infinity Ward confirmed that DMZ will receive new content throughout the duration of Season 2. This includes “new missions, new Exclusion Zone and difficulty tuning.” They also told players to “prepare for DMZ’s Season 2 update with our deep-dive blog next week.”
What Are Some Confirmed Details for DMZ?
With new missions, players will get a chance to earn even more new rewards. The new Exclusion Zone will likely be the new Resurgence map that is coming in the Season 2 update. Resurgence was a popular mode in the first Warzone, as it allowed for players to drop into a smaller map and fight against players in that small map.
Difficulty tuning has also been heavily requested by players. DMZ is a trios-only mode, which means that you technically should be playing it with two other people. However, you can choose to drop in solo by disabling matchmaking.
By dropping in solo, it’s a lot harder to compete against other players and bots. Difficulty tuning should probably help with this, but it’s unclear how that’s going to be implemented just yet.
Infinity Ward’s deep dive blog next week should reveal even more information, so stay tuned for when that drops!
