How much longer can we deal with this NFT thing?

NFTs. If you haven’t heard of them by now, have you been living under a rock? I’m just kidding; though, seriously, if you haven’t heard of NFTs before, I recommend spending some time on the internet for a day or so. You’re bound to hear about them.

In any case, NFT stands for non-fungible token. It’s basically the idea that you own the link to a picture and that money you own it with is in cryptocurrency, which can be converted to real money. Crypto has been going up in popularity lately and seems to be getting more popular by the second. People all over the world have seemingly made millions off of NFTs because people are willing to spend that kind of money on a picture, I guess.

Basically, Twitter’s NFT project allows for you to have an NFT profile picture and keep a hexagonal shape instead of a circle one on said profile picture. It’s available to Twitter Blue subscribers only. This service apparently also allows people to undo tweets, which I guess is important in case you say something really stupid.

According to Twitter:

“Setting up an NFT profile picture means people can associate your Twitter account with your connected wallet’s public crypto wallet address. This means your Twitter account will be associated with your current and historical crypto wallet, including all other NFTs in that wallet, because this information is all available on the public blockchain.”

It seems like most people on Twitter are apprehensive about the whole situation. I am too. I think that the NFTs started out pretty interesting, but have quickly become a factor of cringe over time. Many gamers are especially annoyed by the idea of NFTs, and this is evident after other social media platforms like Discord scrapped its plans for NFT integration.

Many users on Twitter have turned the situation into a joke, saying that Twitter was providing them with a free block list or a list of users to bully (we do not condone bullying at The DZSH Group. Please do not bully people).

Either way, I thought the NFT thing would be a fad. Now I’m annoyed to say that it’s seemingly here to stay.
