The original Jigsaw killer Tobin Bell will be coming back for the next Saw movie and will reprise the role of John Kramer.
The upcoming Saw film is currently heading into production later this month and will be released to theaters in October 27, 2023.
The upcoming Saw movie was originally thought to be a sequel and was announced earlier this year. Saw 6 and Saw: The Final Chapter director Kevin Greutert will be at the helm of the next Saw film. With the announcement that Tobin Bell is returning, many are wondering if the film will be a prequel or something else.
Jigsaw was first introduced in the original Saw back in 2004 as the Jigsaw Killer. The character was a serial killer who captured his victims and tested their will to survive by placing them in a series of potentially fatal “games.” The film was a major success among horror fans and received several sequels and a spin-off.
At this time, no major information is known just yet about what’s coming in the next Saw film.
Saw producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules said: “What a thrill to be reuniting with Tobin. His performance as John Kramer is part of the magic that made this franchise a phenomenon and his character is an active part of this film.”
It’s unclear if the next Saw film will be related to Spiral: From the Book of Saw, but given Spiral’s low ratings, it’s safe to say that it probably won’t be.
